Bird Watching Episode 1

I’ve spent the week listening to my mum talking about her favourite hobby- wild bird watching. She works in the local school, and helps out with the bird watching project with the infants. After filling up the wooden bird tables and wildbird peanut feeders she gets ready for the class. It gives my heart joy to imagine her sat in those tiny plastic chairs with the kids and their little bright red binoculars; while she’s geared up with the latest high tech equipment, a huge camouflage coat, her trusty pair of binoculars in navy green and those oh-so flattering thermal undies. Furthermore the image warps into the heart wrenching feeling which I know shoots through her when just as the sparrow hawk lands, poised to devour its prey and displaying its impressively beautiful wingspan, one of the kiddies squeals out that they ‘NEED A WEE‘, and the garden empties once again.
It’s a good job my mum has the patience of a saint.

It’s good your mum is patient. That’s a good quality for a mum and a bird watcher!
